UMass Dartmouth celebrated the 35thHeritage Day of Portugal at the Massachusetts State House where Chancellor Johnson and the Portuguese-American Legislative Caucus hosted lunch with President of the Azores Vasco Cordeiro.
At the event, Chancellor Johnson highlighted some of the recent accomplishments of the CPSC/TP, including the publication of Vitorino Nemésio’s Azorean classic Stormy Isles, the inaugural volume of an unprecedented book series, Bellis Azorica, dedicated exclusively to the literature, culture, and history of the Azores.
Carlos Pavão’s forthcoming study on Portuguese-speaking populations and contemporary health culture in Massachusetts was likewise singled out as an important project with policy and community implications.
