Itamar Vieira Junior was born In Salvador, Bahia, Brazil In 1979. He holds a PhD degree in Ethnic and African Studies by the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA). Amongst his published works are the celebrated Torto Arado (2019, winner of the prestigious prizes Leya, Jabuti, and Oceanos), forthcoming in English translation by Verso, and Doramar ou a Odisseia (2021).
