Office Space
Center Hours
The CPSC is located in LARTS 212 and is both a public space and a working office. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm (with the exception of holidays). The standard lunch closing time is between 12:30pm and 1:30pm, and the Center may also be closed at other times in order for its full-time staff to attend university meetings or trainings, and/or due to other unforeseeable reasons. In that case, a door sign will inform about the closing period and will provide a contact, e. g., Office Closed for Staff Meeting from 9:00am-10:00am; contacts: phone and e-mail. All are encouraged to visit the Center. However, CPSC full-time staff maintain a busy schedule, and appointments to meet with them must be made and confirmed in advance via email (e. g. 30-minute meeting, 1h meeting, 2h meeting, etc.).
Reserving the Center
If you would like to reserve the Center for a small meeting, guest lecturer introduction, visitor introduction, or small class discussion, please send the administrative assistant (with a courtesy copy to the Director) an email request with at least a 48-hour advance notice (excluding weekends), stating the date and time of your planned event. A confirmation email will be sent if the room is available for the date and time of your request. The Center’s main room booking ought to appear in the Center’s shared Outlook calendar as soon as it is granted.
Working in the Center
For faculty, departmental offices are their primary working space. However, if a faculty member would like to work in the CPSC on a Center-related project, please send the administrative assistant (with a courtesy copy to the Director) an email request with at least a 48-hour advance notice (excluding weekends), stating the date and time of your planned work at the Center. A confirmation email will be sent if the room is available for the date and time of your request.
Project and Task Requests
Projects and tasks requested from the Center’s full-time personnel: Requests from Executive Board members for projects and tasks to be carried out by Center employees should be made to their direct supervisor, the CPSC Director. Center Executive Board members are expected to observe the proper channels of communication for such requests.
Requests will only be confirmed in writing. Phone calls, phone texting, social media posts, and contacts made in person are not considered acceptable as formal requests. Requests are to be made through the official UMass Dartmouth email account.
