Building Accessibility

I. POLICY STATEMENT

Campus buildings are open and available to students when the University is open and according to posted schedules. When the University is closed, access to all campus buildings is restricted, unless otherwise posted.

II. PURPOSE

This policy is needed to ensure that unauthorized persons do not enter University-owned spaces that are unprotected and/or potentially unsafe.

Ill. DEFINITIONS

"Campus buildings" include all facilities operated by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth including, but not limited to buildings on the Dartmouth campus, SMAST, the Law School, CIE, and the Star Store.

IV. PROCEDURES

Anyone requiring access to a UMass Dartmouth building during a time it is not open should request an exception to the policy (access) from the Department of Public Safety at least 24 hours in advance.

V. RESPONSIBILITY

Posting of building availability is the responsibility of the Colleges, Schools, or departments deemed responsible for the use of the campus space.
