Mission
The mission of the HSRC is to further the use and quality of Hot Mix Asphalt through research, training, technical development and technology transfer.
Currently, the HSRC operates in 2,800 square feet of laboratory space at the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) located in Fall River MA. Through previous research, the HSRC is outfitted with state-of-the-art roadway material research equipment for aggregates, asphalt binder, and asphalt mixture.
Accreditation
Since 2012, the HSRC has maintained national accreditation through the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Materials Reference Laboratory program. This program was established to recognize the competence of testing laboratories to perform specific tests on construction materials. The HSRC is accredited to perform tests relating to asphalt mixture design and performance, asphalt binder, and aggregates.
