The Medical Laboratory Science program is a comprehensive, accredited program for future lab professionals.

Program overview

UMass Dartmouth offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science. All graduates meet requirements for national certification. The UMass Dartmouth Medical Laboratory Science program is completed within the traditional academic calendar and the department arranges hospital affiliations.

Certification/Licensure

Students are eligible for national certification, but UMass Dartmouth has not determined eligibility for any other states or territories licensure. Students are notified of this at orientation and at the start of the MLS program, and are encouraged to research their home states and territories licensure requirements, if any.

Program outcomes

¹ Percentage of students who enter professional year (year 4) of the program that graduate on time.
² Percentage of students who pass the national certification exam within the first year after graduation. National pass rate for 2023 was 69%.
³ Percent of graduates who succeed in finding employment or who successfully apply to professional or graduate school within 1 year of graduation.
