New agreement strengthens nursing education pipeline and career opportunities
UMass Dartmouth and Massasoit Community College (MCC) have officially signed an articulation agreement to streamline the transition for nursing students from MCC’s Associate in Science in Nursing program into UMass Dartmouth’s fully online RN to BS in Nursing program.
This partnership, effective Fall 2024, strengthens academic collaboration between the institutions and provides MCC nursing graduates with a seamless, structured pathway to earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The agreement reflects both institutions' commitment to expanding educational opportunities and meeting the growing demand for highly qualified nursing professionals in Massachusetts and beyond.
Through this agreement, MCC graduates who meet the transfer criteria will receive admission to UMass Dartmouth’s RN-BS online program. The agreement also facilitates credit transfer, reducing barriers to degree completion and helping students progress efficiently toward their career goals.
Anne Berriault, Assistant Director of Admissions for UMassD Online, emphasized the program's flexibility: "The online RN-BS program is designed to accommodate working nurses, allowing them to balance their education with professional and personal responsibilities while receiving a high-quality nursing education."
The collaboration between UMass Dartmouth and MCC supports ongoing efforts to enhance nursing education, address workforce shortages, and improve patient care outcomes.
