Robert "Bob" Segura, who most recently served at North Carolina State University, to begin December 9
UMass Dartmouth Vice Chancellor for Administration & Facilities David Gingerella recently announced that Robert "Bob" Segura will become the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Environmental Health & Safety on December 9.
Segura most recently served as Director of Environmental Health and Safety at North Carolina State University, where he developed and implemented specific policies and procedures for programs that utilized chemicals, biological agents, radioactive materials, and non-ionizing radiation. He also worked in a similar role at Penn State University for seven years. Segura began his tenure in higher education as the Associate Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety at the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, where he designed and implemented a world-class EHS program for all SUNY Poly's global educational, research, development, and commercialization facilities throughout New York State. Segura earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an MS in Industrial Hygiene from UMass Lowell.

As AVC of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Segura will oversee the university's compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations, including biohazards, radiation, hazardous materials, and hazardous waste management. As the head of the Office of Environmental Health & Safety, he will help develop and implement policies and practices to improve laboratory safety and environmental performance.
