On March 14, 2025, UMass Law Professor Lisa Lucile Owens had the honor of attending Boston College’s prestigious Junior Faculty Roundtable, an exclusive, invitation-only event held annually in the spring. This highly selective forum provides junior faculty members with a unique opportunity to engage in rigorous academic discourse and receive constructive feedback on their scholarly work.

As part of the event, each selected participant submits a work-in-progress, which is then reviewed by both a fellow junior faculty member and a more senior faculty member from Boston College Law School. This structure fosters deep scholarly engagement and mentorship, allowing participants to refine their research and contribute to meaningful legal scholarship.

The 2025 Roundtable featured an impressive group of junior faculty members, including Professors Brittany Farr, Yan Fang, Elettra Bietti, Rebecca Horwitz-Willis, Felipe Cole, Brenda Dvoskin, Gustavo Ribeiro, Mitchell Johnston, Shelly Simana, Bill Watson, Luke Ferguson, Ketan Ramakrishnan, Andrea Olson, and Erin Braatz, alongside Professor Owens. The forum provided a dynamic setting for exchanging ideas, refining arguments, and strengthening academic collaborations among early-career scholars.

Professor Owens, a scholar of Constitutional Issues in Property Law, presented ongoing research on municipal housing reparations and strict scrutiny analysis.
