Proceeds from the October 22 community run to support student veterans
On Sunday, October 22, at 9 a.m., the UMass Dartmouth Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership Office (SAIL) will host the second annual Race for Veterans 5K on campus. The run will occur on the UMass Dartmouth Coach Robert Dowd Cross Country Course. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. on the day of the race. The race will start at 9 a.m. for all runners.
The event is open to the public, but attendees must register.
Proceeds from this event will be used to support programming for the UMass Dartmouth Student Veterans' Services Program Fund. The fund supports services provided to veteran and military-affiliated students, such as military-to-civilian transition assistance, mentorship initiatives, tutoring, and the operation of a campus Veteran Center. Funds are also used to support programs to build community among veteran and military-affiliated students, such as through speaking engagements and networking events.
All runners will receive a timing chip to record accurate start/finish times, and medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age category (Under 14, 15-19, 20-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65+). Snacks will be provided after the run for all participants to recharge. Runners will get a runner's packet, including a custom bib, an event t-shirt, and a special gift.
All runners and other participants should park in Lots 5, 6, or 8 and check in at the track across from Lot 8.
