Alum Peter de Silva will discuss his book “Taking Stock” on April 13 at CCB
On April 13, 2023 at 2 p.m., Charlton College of Business alum Peter de Silva ’84 will return to campus for the inaugural Alpert Family Speaker Series event, Leadership Lessons. de Silva will discuss his new book, “Taking Stock: 10 Life and Leadership Principles from My Seat at the Table,” a reflection on the decisions and experiences over his 35-year career in financial services.
The discussion will take place in the Charlton College of Business, Room 149. After a brief Q&A, a reception will follow in the CCB lobby with light refreshments and snacks. Please park in Lot 14. All attending students will be entered to win a signed copy of de Silva’s book.
As national financial services executive for over 35 years, de Silva presents leadership principles that contributed to his career success amidst personal challenges in his book. He invites readers to reflect on their personal leadership paths and ponder how to grow as working professionals. de Silva held several C-level positions at TD Ameritrade, Scottrade, UMB Financial Corporation, and Fidelity Investments. He completed the Harvard University Advance Leadership Initiative (ALI) Fellowship, an eighteen-month program dedicated to strengthening leadership skills and passion for service. He’s currently a member of the ALI Coalition Advisory Committee. Undoubtedly, de Silva’s journey of persistence will inspire the next generation of leaders.
This event is the first lecture of the Alpert Family Speaker Series, established in honor of Hershel & Barbara Alpert by their family. Hershel Alpert was the president and CEO of Alpert Furniture and served as a senior executive in residence at the Charlton College of Business in the late 2000s. The Alpert Family Speaker Series hosts distinguished speakers at the Charlton College of Business to share their business and leadership experiences with the UMass Dartmouth community.
