Art History and Art Education Professor Pamela Karimi awarded prestigious honor
Professor of Art History and Art Education Pamela Karimi has won the Scholar of the Year award at the Faculty Federation's Annual Awards Banquet for 2023. Karimi is currently on sabbatical at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and accepted the award virtually. Associate Professor of Interior Architecture and Design, Rose Mary Botti-Salitsky accepted the award in person on Karimi's behalf.
Last year, Karimi published her second monograph with Stanford University Press.
Supported by the University of Heidelberg, Princeton, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, her current research is focused on the interplay between environmental issues and architectural design in the Middle East. Additionally, she is nearing the completion of another monograph exploring the nexus of activism and art in the Middle East, due for publication by Leuven University Press next fall.
Beyond her writing projects, Karimi supervises doctoral dissertations on Iranian architecture at institutions including UCL, Brown University, TU Delft, and the University of Torino, among others. This year, she is also involved in a groundbreaking research collaboration with Google, exploring the intersections of artificial intelligence and art.
