Proceeds from the November 11 run on campus to support local veterans
On Friday, November 11, the Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership Office (SAIL) will host the first annual Run for Veterans 5K on campus.
The event is open to the public, but attendees must register.
Proceeds from this event will be used to create care packages for local veterans in need. The idea for the event came from SAIL Office Student Coordinator, Cameron McAlpine. SAIL and McAlpine worked with student veterans throughout the process.
The run will take place on campus. Check-in will open at 8 a.m. on the day of the race. A special opening ceremony will start at 9 a.m. for all runners, and the run itself will begin at 9:30 a.m. All runners will receive a timing chip to record accurate start/finish times, and medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age category (Under 18, 18-25, 26-40, 41-64, 65+). Snacks will be provided after the run for all participants to recharge. Runners will get a runner's packet, including a custom bib, an event t-shirt, and a special gift.
All runners and other participants should park in Lots 5, 6, or 8 and check in at the track across from Lot 8.
