UMass Law Professor Justine Dunlap was appointed to the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission by the SJC.
UMass Law Professor Justine Dunlap has been appointed to the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission by the Supreme Judicial Court for a three-year term. In joining the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission, Professor Dunlap will use her scholarship, teaching, and law practice background in civil procedure, domestic violence, and family law. Further, Professor Dunlap created and teaches a course in access to justice, a topic important to her since she began her law practice as a legal aid attorney.
The Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission mission statement emphasizes its goal is to achieve equal justice for all persons in the Commonwealth. It strives to accomplish its mission through, inter alia, strengthening civil legal services, private attorney pro-bono work, and enhancing self-represented litigants’ ability to achieve fairness and justice in the court system. Professor Dunlap encourages her students to engage in legal services and pro-bono work as well as innovating solutions to the justice gap.
