Art of the Gardens: Double Bloom at Providence Art Association and Museum
UMass Dartmouth CVPA Professor Rebecca Hutchinson (Art & Design) will be exhibiting with Painter Joan Snyder in Art of the Garden: Double Bloom at Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM).
“In this exhibition, the iconic and bold artwork of renowned painter Joan Snyder is juxtaposed with the ephemeral and expansive ceramic sculptures of internationally-exhibiting sculptor Rebecca Hutchinson, offering two different, yet symbiotic, approaches to contemporary image-making. Both artists powerfully express physical embodiment and grace, and both work with non-traditional mediums, yet their processes and finished work are each unique, making unique work with, for this show, similar themes.”
– Curator Cherie Mittenthal
Hutchinson is known for her site-specific large-scale installations as well as her innovations in the mixed-medium Paperclay, giving workshops internationally. This exhibition will debut several sculptures including “Hybrid Swirl”- a full and dynamic colorful sculptural wall piece featuring upcycled handmade paper, harvested willow, and paperclay to show beautiful natural growth patterns navigating the boundaries of the structural willow frame.
The show can be seen at the PAAM in Provincetown, MA. Open May 28th-July 18th. It is open to the public, Thursday-Sunday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Catalogues for the exhibition displaying the rich and luscious works of Hutchinson and Synder can be purchased through a link here.
