Award-winning photographer and photojournalist Peter Pereira '92 discusses the role of photojournalism in telling the stories behind current events. As the field photojournalism evolved over the years and media outlets grew to include social media platforms, Pereira will speak on how the news is presented through photography, and how that informs our understanding. He will also share his work from 2020, including coverage of the Black Lives Matter movement, the pandemic, and more.
Pereira's work has been featured in Time, Newsweek, US News and World Report, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and more. He won the National Press Photographers Association - New England Region - Photographer of the Year, eight times and New England Newspaper & Press Association - Photographer of the Year 11 times.
