The UMass Law Review presents panels by local and national experts on the intersection of media and law
On Thursday, March 28, UMass Law will host Navigating a New Reality: A multi-platform look at media and the law at the Law campus.
The symposium will cover current issues facing the legal community including media engagement in government, cyber law concerns, and creativity in a regulatory environment.
The first panel, Communication Platforms: Media Engagement in Politics & Government, begins at 9:30 a.m. The panel features Representative Christopher M. Markey, Jillian E. Fennimore, Director of Communications, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Peter N. Ubertaccio, Dean of the Tom & Donna May School of Arts & Sciences, Stonehill College, and Dee H. DeQuattro, Esq., Director of Development and Legal Services, Operation Stand Down Rhode Island.
The second panel, Virtual Platforms: Cyber Law Concerns in the Digital Age, begins at 11 a.m. This panel features Andrew Beckerman-Rodau, Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Intellectual Property Law Concentration, Suffolk University Law School, Hollie B. Lussier, Esq., Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel, Bristol County Savings Bank, and Representative Stephen R. Ucci, Rhode Island House of Representatives.
The third panel of the day begins at 12:30 p.m. and is titled Entertainment Platforms: Creativity in an Evolving Regulatory Environment. The panel features Richard Kent Berger, Esq., Professor, UMass Lowell; Attorney, Berkent, PC, Bryan L. Adamson, Professor of Law, Seattle University School of Law, and Richard E. Kühn III, Professor, Roger Williams University.
The keynote will be delivered by Richard P. Flaggert, Partner at DLA Piper at 1:35 p.m.
