The summer camp will help students learn software skills alongside College of Engineering faculty and students
The UMass Dartmouth College of Engineering’s Mobile App Development Camp will be held on campus from August 19-23, 2019. The camp, which is also sponsored by the university’s Society of Women Engineers group, is ideal for students aged 13-16 who are interested in software development and mobile technology.
The 2019 summer App Camp teaches students Apple iOS mobile app development with the Swift programing language. Students will learn the fundamentals of problem solving, programming, and computing. Students will learn at their own pace in a fun, lab-style learning environment. The collaboration will be fostered through team building, idea sharing, and rewarding creativity. The camp is ideal for students considering a career in science and engineering.
During the last two days of the camp, there will be a hackathon-style competition. Students will form teams and compete to create the best mobile application. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams.
Students will create their app in the College of Engineering’s renovated laboratories designed with workstations for team projects. Snacks and refreshments will be provided during breaks, campers will need to bring their own lunches. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and a certificate of completion.
The camp fee is $150 per student. Please complete the application no later than May 8, 2019. To learn more, please visit the Camp’s website.
