Tracey Cockrell, the CVPA’s artist-in-residence for the 2020-2021 academic year, will offer an engaging perspective on the arts with her “Fall River WaterMark” project as part of the 2nd annual Fall River Fabric Arts Festival.

The second annual FABRIC Arts Festival, which takes place on October 16 and 17, 2020, in Fall River, MA will feature an engaging art walk by Tracey Cockrell, the CVPA’s 2020-2021 New Directions artist-in-residence.
Cockrell's "Fall River WaterMark" is an exploratory walk following the Quequechan River. Participants will listen and tune their senses to this urban watershed while carrying water from Watuppa Ponds to the river’s confluence at tidal Mount Hope Bay. Markers placed along the river route invite participants to hear the secrets of this historical river.
“Audio composed of site-specific field recordings and historical sounds can be accessed at markers by cell phone. These markers are blue burgees (marine swallowtail flags) that can be easily placed along the waterway trail and streets of the downtown area,” says Cocktrell. “During a guided processional walk, we will trace the length of the river, painting a water line from end-to-end using large scale paintbrushes that we will dip into water from the Watuppa Ponds, the Quequechan River, and the Taunton River.” Guided walks will be on Saturday, October 17 at 10 am and 3:30 pm. The FABRIC festival, according to a press release, will also feature an innovative format for attendees to experience the impact of local culture while promoting social solidarity.
