College Now welcomes new staff member
College Now/START would like to welcome James Perry Jr as our new Program Retention Counselor. James joined the College Now/START team in early August. James previously worked at the University of Rhode Island as an Academic Advisor and worked with Child & Family Services in New Bedford. James was first introduced to the College Now family as an incoming first-year student in 2006. As a College Now first-year student, James was one of the student speakers at his Share the Dream banquet and was awarded the Belfred Pina Scholarship. James completed his BS in Human Services from Fisher College. He returned to UMass Dartmouth after graduation and completed his Graduate Certificate in Educational Policy and Master of Public Policy. He is passionate about social justice and committed to empowering underrepresented students. He serves as a volunteer for ScholarMatch, a program which aims to make college possible for first generation and low-income students. Join us in welcoming James to the University. We are so very happy that he is here.
