The Search is an innovative small group series that tackles the key questions of every human heart. In seven beautifully filmed episodes, Chris Stefanick and experts from multiple fields of science, medicine, psychology, art, and religion examine our place in the larger story of existence. Whether you're a practiced inquirer or a jaded skeptic, The Search will speak to you. You may be reassured by some parts, and challenged by others. Either way, you'll find a lot here to think about. First-year PhD student Robin Cabral revisits his honors thesis from UMass Amherst, "From Damsel in Distress to Leading Lady," where he examines femininity in the Super Mario Universe by applying queer and translation studies to Princess Peach, Birdo, and Vivian. He examines how cis and trans women are represented across games, eras and languages to show how games reflect and refract cultural understanding and awareness of these topics, from perpetuating and breaking stereotypes, to reverting and progressing.

Transgender Day of Remembrance, observed on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, is dedicated to honoring the memory of transgender individuals whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. The Center for Women, Gender & Sexuality invites you to participate in the Transgender Day of Remembrance by joining us in reading a name and brief narrative about a transgender individual whose life was taken in 2024. This reading will take place on Wednesday, November 20th from 12pm-1pm in the Campus Center Commuter Cafeteria. If you would like to participate, please email us at cwgs@umassd.edu. The first twenty-four volunteers will be selected to participate.
