Featuring Zine-making Workshop and Artist Talk
Students in UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Visual Foundations Seminar are hosting artist Sage Perrott (also known as Haypeep) at the Star Store campus on Thursday, November 16. She will hold a zine-making workshop at the Star Store, room 144 at 12:30pm. After the workshop, Perrott will be working in the Star Store printmaking studios. At 6:30pm there will be a public artist talk at the Star Store, room 144. The workshop and artist talk are free and open to the public.
Perrott is a printmaker and educator originally from West Virginia. Her artwork features grumpy, lumpy, ghost-like creatures situated in cramped, often humorous circumstances. Perrott’s preferred process is screen printing. She has degrees in printmaking from West Virginia University (BFA) and from Ohio University (MFA). Her prints, drawings, and zines have found their way into the hands of folks all over the United States and the world.
Zines are self-published, small-circulation, handmade papers or magazines. They often cover unconventional topics. Anyone can create a zine, and that’s part of what makes them so awesome.
