Donovan Livingston, an award-winning educator, spoken word poet, and public speaker will discuss the idea that every child has the right to “lift off” and achieve their dreams.
UMass Dartmouth will hold the 15th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Friday, February 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on the UMass Dartmouth campus, 285 Old Westport Road, Dartmouth MA 02747, at the Woodland Commons.
The keynote speaker at the event is Donovan Livingston, an award-winning educator, spoken word poet, and public speaker. Livingston earned master’s degrees from Columbia University and Harvard University and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina. In 2016, Livingston’s Harvard Graduate School of Education convocation address “Lift Off” went viral, reaching over 13 million social network views, and he has received national recognition ever since. Livingston is a believer in the enormous opportunities education provides and he inspires students, educators, and communities with his belief that every child has the right to “lift off” and achieve their dreams.

The tickets are $25 for the public, UMass Dartmouth faculty and staff. Students are free. All proceeds from the breakfast will go toward funding student-centered diversity initiatives at UMass Dartmouth.
