“Giving is Living” event inaugurates the Rev. Dr. Robert Lawrence Lecture Series
Tuesdays with Morrie author Mitch Albom will deliver the inaugural Rev. Dr. Robert Lawrence Lecture at UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m. in the Main Auditorium.
Albom’s talk, entitled “Giving is Living,” will focus on the importance of active citizenship and living a meaningful life and will be followed by a book signing. Admission is $25 ($5 for UMass Dartmouth students). A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit student service projects through the UMass Dartmouth Leduc Center for Civic Engagement.
"I'm very excited to kick off the Lawrence Lecture series with Mitch Albom,” said Leduc Center Director Matt Roy. “His message is uplifting. Each of us can live a meaningful life if we share our gifts freely."
Rev. Lawrence, for whom the lecture series is named, said: “I am honored that the University Of Massachusetts Dartmouth will sponsor its first lecture in my name by inviting the distinguished and acclaimed author Mitch Albom to its campus. The community is privileged with an opportunity to hear and meet one who has contributed significantly to humankind's greatest accomplishment – a belief that ‘living is giving’."
Several of Albom’s books have been on the New York Times Bestseller list, including: Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, The Timekeeper, and The First Phone Call from Heaven. His latest book, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto, will be available for sale by the university’s Follett Bookstore.
