The UMass Dartmouth women’s rugby team hopes to continue their undefeated run in the National Small College Rugby Playoffs this weekend at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire. The Corsairs will face Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, November 14, with the winner of that match moving onto to the next round which will be played the following day, Sunday, November 15.

The women’s rugby team earned their spot in the “Sweet 16” of the National Small College Rugby Organization Women's National Playoffs following their win in the Colonial Coast Rugby Conference Finals. The hard-fought 40-7 victory over Endicott College brought the team the first championship in the history of the club.

Comprised of 14 returning players and 11 new players, the Corsairs remain undefeated in the regular and post season. Founded in 2005, the UMass Dartmouth Rugby Club has both a men’s and women’s team with each side improving by leaps and bounds from its humble beginnings. While the club spent its first eight years being self-run, this year marks the second year that each side has had their own head coach and a designated rugby pitch.
