Meeting open to media, will include discussion with Congressman Kennedy on the political climate in Washington, D.C. and economic development on the SouthCoast.
Congressman Joe Kennedy will offer remarks at the SouthCoast Development Partnership's (SCDP) next meeting Friday, July 31, 2015, at 8 a.m., at UMass Law (333 Faunce Corner Road, Dartmouth). The meeting, which is open to media, will include discussion with Congressman Kennedy on the political climate in Washington, D.C. and economic development on the SouthCoast.
The SouthCoast Development Partnership re-launched in April with a mission closely aligned with the strategic plan of UMass Dartmouth to foster innovation and entrepreneurship across the region as UMass Dartmouth marches toward national recognition as a research university. At the same time, the Partnership will make workforce development and educational attainment key components of its activity. Commuter rail expansion to the SouthCoast, waterfront development in New Bedford and Fall River, renewable energy, labor market/economic cluster analysis, and high school/college dual enrollment are among the issues that the Partnership will engage.
The SCDP's mission is to stimulate, facilitate, and support the economic prosperity of the SouthCoast through transformative innovation, economic development, educational attainment, and workforce development consistent with the UMass Dartmouth Strategic Plan - UMassDTransform2020.
