'College Choice' ranks UMass Dartmouth 50th in first annual ranking of the best online Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs
UMass Dartmouth ranks in the top 50 in the United States for online Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs according to "College Choice". UMass Dartmouth's online nursing program ranks 50th according to the independent online publication, which published its first annual ranking of the best online Bachelor of Nursing program.
UMass Dartmouth's College of Nursing enrolls more than 650 students in its DNP program, BS, RN-to-BS Online, RN Refresher, MS, and PhD programs of study. The College of Nursing offers registered nurses a dynamic, interactive online baccalaureate program that is individually planned for each RN student. The faculty members continually provide support, guidance, and individualized academic planning to students as they progress through the program.
Since 1969, the College of Nursing's programs have prepared professional nurses for leadership and innovation in health care in Southeastern Massachusetts and beyond. The College of Nursing was ranked 79th nationwide by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 edition of the "Best Graduate Schools" issue. The University's College of Nursing was among nearly 1,000 programs surveyed by U.S. News. This past Fall, UMass Dartmouth opened the Elisabeth A. Pennington Simulation Laboratory (SimLab), which offers students an experiential learning environment with innovative equipment necessary for them to practice basic and advanced nursing skills.
In June of this year, UMass Dartmouth announced a $1.25 million gift from Rear Admiral Julia Plotnick (Ret.) to establish the Julia and Harold Plotnick Endowed Professorship, which will support the creation of a tenured position with a specialty in Global Health within the University's College of Nursing.
The rankings were compiled based upon a variety of important factors including faculty credentials, technology and student support, accreditation, cost, as well as the national and regional reputations of each school. "College Choice" cross-referenced a variety of data sources to measure these factors, including the National Center for Education Statistics, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, individual program websites, and U.S. News & World Report.
