UMass Dartmouth today announced the appointment of Elena Glatman as its Director of Research Administration
UMass Dartmouth today announced the appointment of Elena Glatman as its Director of Research Administration, a position that is critical to the University's plans to expand research and innovation on campus and across the region and Commonwealth.
"Elena brings a wealth of experience to this position at a time when the federal research environment is shifting and becoming more competitive," said Dr. Louis Goodman, Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development. "She will be a tremendous asset as we attract federal, state, and other external grant funding to support our faculty, students, staff, and community partners."
Ms. Glatman, who started in her new position on May 19, previously served as the Associate Director of Pre-Award Services at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Prior to WPI, she was an Assistant Director at Brown University. She has also held research administrative positions at Johns Hopkins University and at the Brown University Medical School.
"UMass Dartmouth's outstanding faculty and its commitment to leveraging its intellectual capital to build a stronger community and Commonwealth drew me to this position," Glatman said. "I'm excited to start working with faculty, staff and partners throughout the community to attract external support for the amazing work being done here."
Ms. Glatman has Master's degrees in Psychology and Linguistics from Buryat State University, Ulan-Ude, Russia.
Total research and development spending at UMass Dartmouth was $27.3 million in FY14, compared to $21.3 million in FY13. UMass Dartmouth ranks in the top 100 universities in the nation (77th) in funding of environmental science R&D.
