UMass Dartmouth's College of Visual & Performing Arts Music Department Performances for the Month of March
UMass Dartmouth's College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) Music Department has the pleasure to present the following concerts in the month of March:
Performance Jam Session Series
When: March 12, 2014, 8:00 p.m.
Where: CVPA Building, Room 104
Who: Jazz vocalist Marcelle Gauvin appears with Paul Nagel, the pianist for Bobby Mcferrin and musical director for Boz Skaggs, and UMass Dartmouth alumnus Ryan Loud in a concert of World, Brazilian and Jazz Music.
Performance Jam Session Series
When: March 26, 2014, 8:00 p.m.
Where: CVPA Building, Room 104
Who: Jim Robitaille is the winner of the 9th Annual Thelonious Monk International Jazz Composers Competition sponsored by BMI. The guitarist and composer has performed internationally as a sideman and a leader of his own groups. His television and live performances include the BET Jazz Channel, PBS Television, the Smithsonian Institute, and the Wang Theatre. The Jim Robitaille Group's debut recording entitled "To Music" won three international composition awards for three of Robitaille's compositions.
Composition Concert
When: March 26, 2014, 8:00 p.m.
Where: CVPA Building, Recital Hall, Room 153
Who: One of New York's most visible new music quartet groups, Cadillac Moon Ensemble will perform compositions written by UMass Dartmouth students in Department of Music Peyman Farzinpour's composition studio course, alongside works by professional composers. The student composers are Rik Lloyd, Nicholas Tetrault, Brian Applebee, Catherine Nagy, and Dan Howard. The professional composers include Rick Burkhardt, Viet Cuong, Alex Temple, and Morton Feldman.
