UMass Dartmouth will welcome identity theft speaker and expert John Sileo for a "Cyber Threat Smackdown!", October 21, 2014, at 12:30 p.m., at the University's Main Auditorium. Topics will include protecting digital identity and smartphones, online privacy & identity theft, defending your digital devices, mobile security, social engineering, and phishing.
John Sileo's identity was stolen by a business insider and used to embezzle $300,000 from his clients. The exposure destroyed John's company and consumed two precious years as he fought to stay out of jail. Combining real-world experience with years of study, John became an award-winning author, trusted advisor and leading speaker on managing privacy and reputation in an economy plagued by digital overexposure.
The event is organized by UMass Dartmouth CITS department for IT Security Awareness Week October 21-22.
