UMass Dartmouth's CVPA to Host Exhibition for Talented High School Art Students
UMass Dartmouth's College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) has the pleasure to present the Emerging Young Artists 2014 Invitational Exhibition at the UMass Dartmouth Campus Gallery on the first floor of the CVPA building at UMass Dartmouth from January 26 to February 1, 2014. The CVPA is hosting this exhibition to showcase the work of many of the region's talented art students. More than 90 works will be on display. The UMass Dartmouth community and the general public are invited to a reception for the young artists and their art teachers on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., with an awards presentation at 3:00 p.m.
The exhibition recognizes the exceptional merit of high school art students from twenty high school art programs in Massachusetts. The participating schools were invited to be part of the exhibition based on their long-term commitment to art education demonstrated by the quality of work that comes from their art programs. The art teachers from these high schools were asked to select artwork in any media (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, printmaking, etc.) from five of their best students to be included in this group exhibition. The result is a marvelous exhibition that brings together and highlights the talents of these young artists.
