A special holiday program on Norman Rockwell presented by guest speaker Charles Flint at UMass Dartmouth on December 15 is from 2-4 p.m. at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Claire T. Carney Library Grand Reading Room, 285 Old Westport Road. Chancellor Professor Emeritus Mel B. Yoken, program chair of the Library Associates, will host the program which is free and open to the public. A reception will be held immediately following the program.
Flint has a deep expertise and understanding of the art of Rockwell, the visual arts, and the field of illustration within cultural and art historical contexts. Norman Rockwell's work was extremely popular in the USA during the twentieth century, as it expressed the idealistic desires of the nation and portrayed kinder and simpler times, appealing to a sense of nostalgia.
Charles Flint has many years of close collaboration with the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA and has built a unique expertise in Norman Rockwell and his art, so that he is now a regular authenticator for the Museum.
