The University of Massachusetts Claire T. Carney Library Associates are proud to announce the following programs for the fall semester. The prolific, highly popular writer, Jon Land, will talk on his literary work on October 3, and the distinguished, Pulitzer-Prize winning writer, Debby Applegate, will speak on Henry Ward Beecher: The Most Famous Man in America on December 3. Chancellor Professor Emeritus Mel B. Yoken, program chair of the Library Associates, will host the two programs which are free and open to the public.

Jon Land is one of the very best action writers in the country, and his thrillers are unquestionably amongst the greatest written today, His Caitlin Strong books are totally addictive and extremely popular; furthermore, they always contain great plots, interesting characters and a rare combination of meticulous research and good old-fashioned non-stop action.
Debby Applegate spent 20 years researching and writing about Henry Ward Beecher whom she first discovered as an undergraduate at Amherst College. She continued her monumental work on Beecher at Yale, where she earned a Ph.D. in 1998. Her writing has won her many awards in addition to the highly coveted Pulitzer Prize in biography.
Land's talk will be held in the Moot Courtroom of the University of Massachusetts Law School, 333 Faunce Corner Road, and Applegate's talk will be held at UMass Dartmouth Woodland Commons.
