The UMass Dartmouth Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concert is Monday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall (Room 153) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts Building, 285 Old Westport Road, North Dartmouth, MA.
This new ensemble includes vocal improvisation and four-part harmony arranged in the style of Manhattan Transfer. The group features the vocal talents of Kristine Chylinski, Charlie Denny Jr., Christine Eubanks, Marcelle Gauvin, Brad Goff, Dori Legge, Michelle Oliveri, and Rebecca Wolff.
The program, entitled "Ellington and More," includes jazz standards written by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and several others. UMass Dartmouth music student Brad Goff, arranged for this concert, Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood." A jazz quartet will support the ensemble, Joe Amaral on drums, Donn Legge on guitar, Dave Zinno on acoustic bass, and the ensemble director Matt Richard on piano.
