UMass Dartmouth has moved up to 11th place nationally on Campus Tweet, a website that provides college students, faculty, staff, and alumni with a single point of access to follow all Tweets generated by people affiliated with each campus.
"We are growing quickly and are moving up the leader board to the point that we are now listed as one of the top campuses on the Campus Tweet homepage," says, Dr. Steve White, a Marketing professor at the Charlton College of Business at UMass Dartmouth.
UMass Dartmouth became a part of Campus Tweet when two friends Kyle Taylor (UMass Dartmouth), and Jackie Cooper (Champlain College), introduced the site to Dr. White and Dr. Nora Barnes, Chancellor Professor of Marketing and Director of the Center for Marketing Research at UMass Dartmouth. Dr. White and Dr. Barnes were intrigued by the site and with their expertise in social media's influence on marketing and advertising strategies they launched a drive to get Charlton students to sign up.
The majority of UMass Dartmouth students using Campus Tweet are in marketing or business classes; however, White encourages students in other majors to get involved. The more students that use Campus Tweet, the greater chance UMass has to rise on the list. "We'd like to get the broader campus involved and to jump in to the top ten," says Dr. White.
