Travels through France with a Lucky Duck
UMass Boivin Center Presents traveler Margo Moore on December 6
The Boivin Center for French Language and Culture of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth proudly presents the third and final fall event celebrating its 25th anniversary. Margo Moore will be sharing her adventures in France this past summer on Monday, December 6th 2010 at 4:30 PM in the Browsing Area of the Claire T. Carney Library.
Ms. Moore was the winner of the 2009 Massachusetts Audubon Society/Allens
Pond Wildlife Sanctuary annual Duck Derby. As a winner, she won a dinner for two anywhere in the world including airfare and two nights lodging. She chose the Grenoble area of France, the home of her longtime friend, Lise. The two friends had been separated over the years by geography, family obligations and careers. They had planned to meet after the Race family's last child completed college. This award allowed Ms. Moore and her husband Roger Race to reunite with her friend earlier. The trip also coincided with Roger and Margo's 30th wedding anniversary.
The couple and her friend, Lise and her husband shared a dinner at the world-renowned flagship of traditional French cuisine Auberge du Pont de Collanges located outside the city of Lyons. They were treated to a personal visit at their table by the chef and owner of the restaurant, Paul Bocuse. Ms. Moore plans to share the details of her experience as well as share a taste of France with the audience.
Margo is an educator in New Bedford. She teaches English to 7th graders at Roosevelt Middle School. Currently, she is working on her doctoral dissertation based on her study of middle school students and their grades. She is also the Associate Director of Continuity Programs for the Buzzards Bay Writing Project, a division of the National Writing Project.
The program is free to the public. Parking is available in parking lot 13. Please enter the library through the lower level.
