Despite the challenges during this pandemic, the UMass Dartmouth Labor Education Center is committed to continuing our internship program with students.  We are offering an adapted internship that will explore ways students can still engage in local community improvement efforts remotely.

As part of our internships we will offer sessions on Digital Organizing in the Era of Pandemic. We will explore how students can make a difference in economic and racial justice efforts, utilizing a broad range of skills from research to creative arts.

The Labor Education Center accepts interns for credit and we are able to accommodate requirements that would suit academic internships.  We welcome students who are interested in connecting campus to community, around local concerns such as: workers’ rights, immigrant rights, wage theft, public education, income inequality, worker health and safety, racial justice, healthcare, and women's community and workplace issues.

We especially encourage students from the following fields to apply: Anthropology/Sociology, Crime and Justice, Economics, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Marketing, Fashion, Design, CVPA, and other relevant fields of study.

Students will learn skills to apply to their field of study while learning useful skills to build economic and social justice locally. The Center works with a wide array of community organizations and worker organizations from a broad diversity of occupations to apply classroom/online study to local issues. Students will participate in projects that utilize their academic skills such as research, interviewing, writing, and more.
