Description

An educational and research field station located on Nantucket Island; operated by UMass Boston. Hosts field trips, short courses, conferences, and visiting researchers throughout the year. The 115 – acre shorefront property, fronting the shallow coastal waters of Nantucket Harbor, features a pristine 45-acre salt marsh, a freshwater pond, marsh, and swamp, and proximity to rare upland heath habitat. An eelgrass community, rich with finfish, shellfish, and myriad marine invertebrates, is located just off the Station’s beach and is ideal for snorkeling.
