Directions to Campuses

Amherst campus

From the North: Take I-91 to exit 25, left to Rt. 116 toward Amherst, right onto Rt. 5&10 (briefly). Left onto Rt. 116 (again) at the Mobil Station. Get off at the UMass exit. Left onto Mass. Ave. toward the University. Follow signs to the Visitors Center or Campus Center.

From the South: Take I-91 to Exit 19, right onto Rt. 9. Left after the malls onto Rt. 116. Take the first exit off 116 (UMass). Right onto Mass. Ave. toward the University. Follow signs to the Visitors Center or Campus Center.

From the Mass Turnpike: Take I-90 to exit 4 (West Springfield) onto I-91 North. Then follow instructions above: “From the South.”

Peter Pan bus lines has a stop on the campus mall. Visit their website for schedules and times.


Boston campus

From the North: Take Interstate 93 south through Boston to exit 15 (JFK Library/South Boston/Dorchester) and follow the University of Massachusetts signs along Columbia Road and Morrissey Boulevard to the campus.

From the South: Take Interstate 93 north to exit 14 (JFK Library/Morrissey Boulevard) and follow Morrissey Boulevard northward to the campus.

From the West: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) east to the turnpike’s end at Interstate 93. Take I-93 south one mile to exit 15 (JFK Library/South Boston/Dorchester) and follow the University of Massachusetts signs along Columbia Road and Morrissey Boulevard to the campus.

Public transportation: The University of Massachusetts Boston Campus can be reached by taking the MBTA Red Line (either the Ashmont or Braintree lines) to the JFK/UMass stop. A free shuttle bus service from the station to the UMass grounds is available. In addition, MBTA buses following routes 8 and 16 stop on campus.


Dartmouth campus

From Boston and points north: Take 128/93 to Route 24 south. Take I-195 east to exit 22. Go south on Faunce Corner Road for about one mile to Route 6 (State Road). Cross Route 6 and continue for about half a mile to fork and bear right, staying on Old Westport Road. Continue west on Old Westport Road for almost a mile. Campus entrance is on left. Park in Lot 4.

From Providence, RI and points west: Take I-195 East through Fall River, MA to exit 22. Go south on Faunce Corner Road for about one mile to Route 6 (State Road). Cross Route 6 and continue for about half a mile to fork and bear right, staying on Old Westport Road. Continue west on Old Westport Road for almost a mile. Campus entrance is on left. Park in Lot 4.

School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST)

Follow directions above to I-195. Take I-195 toward New Bedford to exit 26 (Route 18 south). After several sets of lights, Route 18 becomes West Rodney French Boulevard. You will pass through a hurricane dike and a beach area on the right. The road will turn left, onto South Rodney French Boulevard. SMAST is located at 706 and 836 South Rodney French Boulevard.  Once you get on Route 18 South, it is approximately 4.25 miles o SMAST.


Lowell campus

From the North on I-95/128: Take I-95/128 South to Rt 3 North. Take exit 30B to the Lowell Connector and follow the directions below.

From the South on I-95/128: Take I-95/128 North to Rt 3 North. Take exit 30B to the Lowell Connector and follow the directions below.

From the North or South on I-495: Take exit 35C to the Lowell Connector. Follow the directions below.

From the Lowell Connector: Take the first exit (Exit 3) off the Lowell Connector to Industrial Avenue. Go right at the stop sign at the end of the off ramp and proceed to the rotary. Take the first right off of the rotary onto Industrial Avenue. The first traffic light is at the intersection with Chelmsford Street (Route 110). Proceed straight across. Industrial Avenue becomes Stevens Street at this intersection. After the second set of lights, go straight to the stop sign. (You will have traveled a total of 1.5 miles on Stevens Street.) Turn right onto Middlesex Street. Take the first left onto Wilder Street. Proceed a short distance on Wilder to the traffic lights at the intersection with Broadway. UMass Lowell’s South Campus is ahead to the left.
