Residence Halls Closing
Residence Halls close Thursday, May 8 at 5pm. At that time, staff will begin closing procedures, which include entering all rooms to ensure spaces are secure. This applies to all rooms, even if you are approved to stay past May 8, 2025.

How to check out
Clean and empty your room.
- Close and lock windows and doors.
- Remove all personal belongings and trash.
- Leave the space clean and move-in ready to avoid charges.
Return your key and check out with staff.
- Check out at your designated area between May 1 - 8, 12 - 8pm.
- If checking out before May 1, see your RA on duty from 7 - 10pm.

Do you need housing after May 8?
If you have a final exam, are graduating, or have an approved reason to remain in residence halls:
- Submit the Late Stay Request Form via the Housing Portal by Monday, May 6 at 12pm.
- Late stays cost $34/night, unless you’re on a 12-Month Contract or are an approved graduate. Graduates participating in Commencement may be eligible for a waiver.
- All requests are reviewed individually. Submission does not guarantee approval.
Summer housing at UMassD
Housing & Residential Education offers on-campus housing for students enrolled in summer courses and those who may UMassD home year round with a Base Plus Agreement.
Summer housing eligibility
- students enrolled in summer classes, teaching, or internships pending department verification
- students employed by UMass Dartmouth pending supervisor verification
- students on a Base Plus Agreement – You must still apply.
How to secure summer housing
- Complete the Summer Housing Application on the Housing Portal by Tuesday, May 6 at 12pm.
- Select “Extenuating Circumstances” on the application and explain your situation if you are not sure of your eligibility for summer housing.

Please be advised that there is no campus dining or regular shuttle service during summer.

2025 Fall Housing
Residence Hall and apartments reopen for returning students on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
To be eligible to move in, you must:
- Complete your health requirements.
- Be registered for Fall 2025 classes.
- Resolve all financial holds with Greystar and/or Student Services Center.
