University requirements for graduate admissions
- Submit an application via the online portal. Be sure to provide your full legal name and to capitalize the first letter of all proper nouns.
- Pay non-refundable $60 application fee (American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa) via the online portal. For Nursing applicants, the non-refundable application fee is $75.
- Statement of Purpose, minimum 300 words. Unless otherwise indicated in the program requirement details, indicate your graduate study objectives, research interests and experience, and business or industry experience if applicable. If you are applying for a teaching or research assistantship, include any special skills or experience that would assist us in making assistantship decisions.
- Resume
- Transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended (regardless of whether a credential is earned or not). Unofficial transcripts are accepted for admissions application review, once enrolled a final official transcript is required. International students applying with an transcript evaluation, please submit that document with your unofficial transcripts. International applicants for Data Science must submit semester-by-semester transcripts as well as consolidated transcripts.

- International students: official TOEFL iBT, IELTS, Pearson PTE or Duolingo (if accepted by program) score. Unofficial scores are accepted for admissions application review, once enrolled official scores are required and must be sent by the testing agency (copies/scans not accepted). This is required of any applicant who did not earn a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from an accredited academic institution in the U.S. or accepted English-speaking country, see exemptions for more details. We require an overall/total minimum score of 72 on the TOEFL iBT or BAND 6.0 on the IELTS or a 52 on the Pearsons PTE Academic for entrance to any program and a minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL iBT or BAND 6.5 on the IELTS for consideration for a teaching assistantship. Some programs require higher minimum scores (see program-specific requirements). Most programs also accept the Duolingo with a minimum score of 95. The following programs do not accept the Duolingo: Art Education, Biology/Marine Biology, Nursing (MS, DNP, PhD), Psychology: Clinical, and Public Policy.

Individuals holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the life sciences or engineering/physical science fields (or the U.S. baccalaureate equivalents from a foreign institution) are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants generally have had undergraduate coursework in statistics/experimental design and in life science/biomedical science.

Statement of purpose (300 words)
- include your academic and professional background, research credentials, and career plans as they relate to the degree program. Discuss research experience (academic, industrial) and any publications, grants, or patents.
- indicate your specific areas of interest within Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology so that an appropriate fit in the program can be determined. If you have a specific interest in working with one or more of the program’s faculty, describe that specific interest and identify those faculty members.

- Admission to the MS program is competitive. In general, students must exceed the minimum requirements stated below to gain admission. However, students who do not meet these minimum requirements—but who otherwise show evidence of strong academic, professional, or research ability—may be accepted upon approval of the ECE Graduate Committee.
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, or related field of engineering, science, or mathematics, from a college or university of recognized standing. Applicants with different backgrounds may be admitted with additional course requirements needed to meet program prerequisites.
- Demonstrated scholastic competence: typically, MS applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale for all engineering, math and physics courses will be considered.

Admission is made by the Associate Provost for Graduate Studies and the Dean of the College of Engineering upon the recommendation of the EAS Graduate Program Director and the admissions director of the major option.

- hold a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from a program accredited by the ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or CCNE. Registered Nurses with an associates degree in nursing and a bachelor degree in a related field may seek admission through the Graduate Admission Program (GAP). Post Master's DNP applicants must be certified NPs and hold a master's degree in nursing from a program accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or CCNE.

- Bachelor’s degree minimum GPA of 3.0 and Master’s degree minimum GPA of 3.3.
- One of these two degrees is from an accredited nursing program.
- Applicants must be registered nurses and submit copy of RN license.
- Master’s level courses that include exposure to theory and research, and a course in multivariate statistics. For BS-PhD applicants, these will be completed in the program.
- For BS-PhD applicants, BS minimum GPA of 3.5.
- International students are not eligible to apply to the BS-PhD program.
Requirements
- Two letters of recommendation from people who have supervised the applicant in the academic, professional, or community service setting. If possible, at least one recommendation should be from a doctorally-prepared faculty member who is familiar with the applicant’s academic work and capacity. The recommendations should address the applicant’s ability to do graduate work, and potential to advance the discipline of nursing through scholarship. - Statement of purpose should include research interest and intent. In the first part (up to 250 words), give your reasons for wishing to pursue graduate study. In the second part (up to 1,000 words), indicate your research interests and goals for doctoral study.
- Scholarly writing samples (for example, a peer reviewed publication or a paper from school), minimum of 10 pages of writing.
- International students should have a minimum English Proficiency score of TOEFL iBT 84 with the speaking session minimum 24, IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each section, or the Pearsons PTE Academic 55 with no individual score below 50.

An undergraduate degree in physics is not required for admission to or support in the MS in Physics program. Many of our most successful students have earned undergraduate degrees in other fields, usually in engineering or a closely-related science, such as mechanical engineering, mathematics, or computer science.
Applicants from other disciplines should contact the Physics Program Director prior to submitting their materials to discuss the particulars of their case.
We suggest that our applicants have a 3.0 GPA but this is not a firm requirement.

- Writing sample: academic or professional work that demonstrates readiness for graduate work (10-15 pages).

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or closely related field including human services, sociology, education and/or work experience in the ABA field.
- A minimum undergraduate cumulative average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading system is required. Students not meeting this requirement but who otherwise give evidence of strong academic ability may be admitted.
- 2 letters of recommendation. Applicants are encouraged to obtain letters from both academic settings addressing academic readiness, and from work settings addressing capacity for employment in ABA. Applicants will be required to provide the recommenders name and email address so we can contact the recommender for the letter of recommendation.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis prior to the deadline. We recommend submitting your application by the priority deadline for the best chance of admittance. Most spots are already filled by the final deadline. Applicants are accepted into the program once a year, for the fall semester only.
Successful candidates have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
- A minimum undergraduate cumulative average of 2.75 on a 4.0 grading scale. Students not meeting this requirement but who otherwise give evidence of strong academic ability may be accepted.
- Completion of psychology statistics or research methods course.
- Some work experience related to the field of Psychology/Social Work.
In addition, this psychology option has specific admissions requirements:
- 3 letters of recommendation, one should be submitted from a present or former agency supervisor capable of addressing your clinical potential. Applicants will be required to provide the recommenders name and email address so we can contact the recommender for the letter of recommendation.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, while not required, will be considered if submitted.
- Final candidates will be required to attend a personal interview with the Admissions Committee. Interviews are held mid-February.
- Upon acceptance to the program, students are required to sign acknowledgments of the conditions of a Competency/Fitness and a Full Participation policy.

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science degree, and an interest in research. Students must demonstrate evidence of potential to excel in course work and research. Admission decisions will be made based on all of the submitted documents (e.g., research experience/interest, personal statement, GPA, letters of recommendation, etc.).

- The personal statement should include evidence of research interest/experience and the reason they believe our graduate program is a good fit (students are encouraged to specify the faculty members they would like to work with or the preferred area of research).
- The submission of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores is optional, but the scores will be considered as part of the application if submitted.
- A sample of student’s writing is optional.
- Admitted students must have successfully completed an undergraduate statistics course before beginning the program.

- The statement of purpose should be approximately 1-2 pages in length and describe your beliefs about teaching and learning and why you have chosen teaching as a profession.

- 2 letters of recommendation from someone who can attest to your ability/potential as a teacher. Applicants will be required to provide the recommenders name and email address so we can contact the recommender for the letter of recommendation.
- Copy of Initial License (Professional Licensure Program application requirement only).

- GMAT, LSAT or GRE score (minimum score of 500). Alternatively, some applicants may qualify for GMAT waiver.

- International students should have a minimum English Proficiency score of TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 110 or the Pearsons PTE Academic 58.
