Suemy Moreira joins Engineering Student Support & Services team as an advisor for undergraduate students.
Engineering Student Support & Services serves the needs of engineering students by empowering them to achieve success through the development of educational plans consistent with their academic, personal, and professional goals. Services are available in-person or virtually Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4:30 pm. All you need to do is make an appointment with one of our three academic advisors. Meet our newest addition, Suemy Moreira.
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role as an ES3 advisor.
"My name is Suemy Moreira. I graduated from The University of Rhode Island this past May 2021 with my master’s degree in College Student Personnel. During my undergraduate studies, I was part of several club organizations, including a multicultural dance group called eXposure, Uhuru Sasa, and the Cape Verdean Student Association.
I am grateful to work here at UMassD with the College of Engineer Department as an Academic Advisor for the Engineering Student Support & Services (ES3) team. “My role is to assist students and faculty in-person or virtually navigate academic challenges; and help plan their academic, personal, and professional goals while giving experiential learning opportunities."
What do want students to know about your role in helping them with academic success?
"As a first-generation college graduate, I understand the myriad of challenges that can accompany working toward completing a degree. I want students to know that I am here to guide and support them in many facets of their college experience. The ES3 team and I want to see students become successful in whichever way they identify success. Our goal is to ensure students graduate as well as build interpersonal connections and set realistic career goals for your future. Whether an academic or personal challenge, my door is always open for visits and conversations."
What’s the best way for students to reach you?
"The best way to reach me is by making an appointment, just drop into my office in DOIN 319B, a phone call or send me an email. I like when students come into my office and my door is always open for visits and conversations."
