All About Labyrinths
Join us on April 2, 2025 at 12:30pm in the new Reflection Room located on the second floor of the campus center for a presentation about Labyrinths. Sr Madeleine Tacy, former campus minister here at UMassD, was instrumental in bringing the labyrinth to campus. She will share the history and use of labyrinths. Refreshments will be served.
The UMass D Labyrinth in located between LARTS and parking lot 1. Labyrinths, unlike mazes, feature a single, winding path from the entrance to the center and back out, used for walking meditation, spiritual reflection, and stress reduction. They have a long history and are found in various cultures and settings, with examples in cathedrals, churches, and parks.
During Mental Health Week, April 7-10, 2025, the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life will offer labyrinth walks for those who wish to learn how the labyrinth may be used for prayer or meditation and stress reduction.
