CONFIRMED: Virtual Event: Sex Work & Stigma Panel
Join the Legal Association of Women in a conversation about sex work and activism. Students will have the chance to hear from the three panelists regarding their experience and activism within the field. Students will also be able to submit questions beforehand to be presented to the panel. This is a PILF approved event, email Jquinn3@umassd.edu with questions. Panelists Alex Andrews is a former sex worker and exploitation survivor. Today she is the co-founder of Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP USA) Behind Bars, a sitting Board Member for SWOP USA, and the North American Representative for Global Network of Sex Work Projects. In addition, she sits on several other boards and Human Rights Coalitions alongside United States Senators and many other very influential people. Victoria Von Blaque is a former sex worker, in fact, she was the internets first BBW trans porn star. After finding her calling in the sex work field, she chose to start her own company, Femme Fatale, LLC. Then, in 2015, Victoria shifted her focus to working for a nonprofit which had a goal to protect LGBTQ youth from the harms of homeless and offering them the tools needed to live independently. Today, Victoria continues her work in her community, performs as a lip sync Queen in the New York scene with the Iconic House of LaBeija, and is the Co-founder of the House of Transcendence. Sinnamon Love is a 27-year-old veteran sex worker and dominatrix, community organizer, and black feminist pornographer. Sinnamon Love is a fierce advocate for Black Lives Matter, trans rights, and sex worker rights. She also works tirelessly for the full decriminalization of sex work and cannabis. She identifies as a kinky, bisexual, polyamorous, and lifestyle switch. She is a Hall of Fame inductee for AVN Awards and Urban X Awards. In 2018 and 2019, she served as a Fellow at the Sex Worker Giving Circle, the first-ever organization founded to put sex workers in Fellow positions that make all high-level funding decisions, grantmaking recommendations, and lead many fundraising activities. She is also the founder of the BIPOC Adult Industry Collective, an organization dedicated to bridging the wage gap in the legal sex trades through access to mental health resources, financial assistance, and peer-to-peer education.
