Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 3:00pm to 4:00pm

SMAST East 101-103 and via Zoom Abstract: Vineyard Wind is currently building the nation's first utility-scale offshore wind energy project over 15 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. The project will generate clean, renewable, affordable energy for over 400,000 homes and businesses across the state of Massachusetts, while reducing carbon emissions by over 1.6 million tons per year. First power was achieved January 2, 2024, with five turbines expecting to be operating at full capacity early this year as construction continues. An overview of the nine-year permitting process of the project, and the impact from stakeholder engagement from a fisheries perspective will be discussed.
