ISE Option

Industrial and Systems Engineering is a discipline concerned with the design and application of analytical methods to the analysis, design, and optimization of processes and systems.  The tools used include statistics, simulation, engineering methods, mathematical modeling, and optimization.  Students in ISE may pursue graduate study and research in the general areas of operations research, production (manufacturing) systems, management systems, and human factors engineering and ergonomics, and quality and reliability engineering.  Career opportunities are vast and include advanced manufacturing, research and development, and business and service industries.

Core Course Requirements

Four core courses (12 credits) are taken early in the program of study to ensure preparation in the fundamental research and analytical methods in the field.

Elective Course Requirements

Elective courses (21 credits) help the student attain depth in focused areas within ISE as well as breadth in a minor area of study.  Major electives are divided into two groups from engineering and management.

A typical curriculum plan for the ISE option is shown below.
