UMassD student chapter

The student chapter of SME at UMass Dartmouth is chartered by the SME organization at Dearborn, Michigan, as number S296. The faculty advisor is Dr. Kihan Park and the student officers are:

• Alexis Medeiros, President
• Joshua Rego, Vice President
• Max Askew, Treasurer
• Nathaniel Picard, Secretary
• James Bonnell, Project Manager

The chapter offers its members many services and opportunities. Guest speakers from industry and plant tours are scheduled every year. In addition, student members also have access to the various benefits provided by SME. These include free admission to SME exhibitions as well as summer and permanent job opportunities, in addition to access to technical information and the library of SME. A student member can download any number of technical papers for free while this would cost a nonmember $20 for each one.
