Room Dion-313
Signal Processing Laboratory
Coordinator:
John Buck, Professor
Size:
22' x 37'
Description:
The research in this lab focuses on the measurement and processing of acoustic signals, both in air and underwater. The projects include both manmade sonar systems and animal communication and echolocation. Prof. John R. Buck leads this lab, and four ECE MS students currently conduct research in the lab. Equipment includes a 64-element Visionics VDAS microphone array with real time USB interface, 16 hydrophones and an underwater video camera for measuring marine mammal acoustic behavior, multichannel recording devices for array measurements, acoustic sources, and high-speed ultrasonic data acquisition equipment. The lab is supported by Office of Naval Research grants.
