ECE PhD Student Ian Rooney received SMART funding
ECE PhD student Ian Rooney received a scholarship under the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation Program (SMART) funding PhD studies through May 2017. Upon graduation Ian will be employed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, IN. Ian will also spend the summers of 2015 and 2016 at NSWC Crane as a paid intern.
Ian is originally from Marlboro, MA and graduated from UMass Dartmouth Summa Cum Laude in 2011 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and has just completed the MS degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent the summer of 2012 at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC in the Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program, and is presently an intern at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. Ian's research studies co-prime sensor arrays for underwater acoustics. He is a member of the Acoustic Signal Processing Group, advised by Prof. John R. Buck.
