The STEM Learning Lab is a free academic support service which provides peer tutoring, group review sessions, workshops, and academic advising for students enrolled at UMass Dartmouth.
Our goal is to help students achieve academic excellence and to retain students throughout their University career. A professional Director, qualified, caring student tutors and receptionists make up the staff of the SEC. Our tutors are specially trained advanced students who participate in workshops that focus on successful tutoring.
Tutorial services are offered for general science study skills and over 130 different courses in Biology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing and Physics for most 100, 200 and 300 level courses.
The following services are also available to eligible students through a federal Student Support Services grant: personal mentors, facilitated study groups, study partners, assistance in preparing applications for graduate school, individualized needs assessments, and cultural activities.
To get help at the STEM Learning Lab, students should come to SENG 217 to make an appointment.
